Located in southeastern Pennsylvania, Surly Hedgehog Photography & Design began twelve years ago with a glance at a photo of our beloved hedgehog Kaiya.(RIP). Although this precious pricklebutt is no longer with us, our memories of her and our passion for sharing our work with others inspires us to keep picking up our cameras.

We capture our images using both 120 and 35mm film as well as traditional and infrared digital cameras, making careful choices in lighting and composition. We have a minimalist view when it comes to image processing so you can be sure that the image you are viewing is as close to the in-camera shot as possible.

We hope that our images will inspire you to slow down and take a closer look at the world around you, and perhaps even bring you a smile on even the prickliest and rainiest of days.
